Everything about your players
Who plays where?
It's in the profile.
One player profile per person, valid across all your teams – with the details coaches and team managers in amateur football actually need.
-
Position on the pitch
Pick your main position and an alternative – Startelf shows both on a small pitch graphic. The whole team can see straight away who keeps it tight at the back and who scores up front.
Positions also help with team selection: when splitting fair training sides, Startelf spreads goalkeepers, defence, midfield and attack based on the profiles.
- Goalkeeper, centre-back and full-back
- Defensive, central and attacking midfield
- Left winger, right winger and striker
- Main and secondary position chosen separately
-
Player card & photo
Preferred foot (left, right or both), height and date of birth – the profile shows your age from it. Take your photo with the camera or pick one from your gallery; it shows up in the squad list, on the leaderboard and in the team chat.
-
One profile, several teams
Five-a-side with work on Monday, a kickabout with mates on Saturday? One profile is enough, and switching teams takes one tap. Role, stats and shirt number apply per team – the manager assigns the number.
-
Visible to teammates, private to everyone else
Your teammates see your profile with position, player card and stats. For everyone else it stays private – unless you switch on “Public profile”. Then other teams can find you via the player search in the app.
You can hide your birthday from the team. If it's visible, your teammates get a push on the day – without your age.
- Control visibility yourself in the settings
- Only your team sees your absences
- Player search covers public profiles only
-
Appearances & goals in your profile
Your profile shows appearances, goals, attendance rate and Player of the Match awards for your current team – broken down by year. The numbers fill themselves from events and the live score.
-
Profiles for children & guests
Parents maintain their child's player profile and can later hand it over, history included, to an account of the child's own. When a guest becomes a regular, their goals move to the new profile.

Quick answers
FAQ on player profiles
What's in a player profile?
Name, profile photo, main and alternative position, preferred foot, height and date of birth (your age is shown). On top of that come your role, shirt number and join date in each team, plus your stats. Everything except your name is optional.
Who can see my player profile?
Everyone who's in a team with you. To anyone else your profile is private. Switch on “Public profile” in the settings and other teams can find you via the player search in the app. Absences such as holidays are still only visible to your teammates.
Who assigns shirt numbers?
The manager sets the shirt number – in the squad list or straight from the player's profile. It applies per team, so you can wear a different number in each side.
Can I play for several teams with one profile?
Yes. Just join more teams and switch between them with a tap. Position and player card apply everywhere; stats, role and shirt number are per team.
Why does Startelf need my position?
For team selection: when splitting fair training sides, Startelf spreads players by their main and secondary position, so each team gets a goalkeeper where possible and a balanced mix.
How do I delete my account?
In the app under Profile → Settings → Delete profile. Your profile and personal data are permanently removed and you leave all teams. If you're the only manager, you pick a successor first. More in Support.
Does the player profile cost anything?
No, Startelf is free for players. Creating events and managing the team comes with the Manager subscription – one subscription for the whole team, from €4.99 a month or €49.99 a year, first month is free, cancel anytime.
