Here you'll find all the major new features and improvements of the Startelf app – from the latest version back to the first release. Minor bug fixes aren't listed individually to keep things readable.

Version 2.0 · September 2026

New

  • Match center: games now have their own view with the opponent and pitch size (5-a-side to 11-a-side). RSVPs only show availability – the coach picks who plays via the match squad, and nominated players get notified.
  • Tactics board: set up your starting lineup right on the pitch – tap to assign, with the bench below.
  • Live match: kick-off, goals with scorers, opponent goals, substitutions (re-entry allowed), yellow/blue/red cards – a second yellow automatically becomes yellow-red, a second time penalty becomes red; the penalty duration (5 or 10 minutes, per age group) is a team setting, with a countdown in the timeline. Plus half-time, a match timeline and the Player of the Match vote after the final whistle.
  • Home screen: the next game appears as a match center card – with opponent, kick-off time and an “in the squad” hint.
  • Family: create profiles for your children and manage their events and RSVPs – no separate account needed for the child. Link additional guardians via a link; later your child can take over the profile with its full history on their own account. Coaches can add children directly to the roster and send parents the connect link.
  • Nudging: events now show who hasn’t answered yet – coaches send a push reminder with RSVP buttons in one tap (with a cooldown to prevent spamming).

Improved

  • Statistics: for games, appearances now only count for players who actually played (starting lineup or subbed in).
  • Email verification now opens the app directly – no browser detour.
  • Player of the Match vote: if you’re not eligible, you now see the reason (e.g. “only the match squad votes”).
  • Events: the RSVP lists now match the roster style – tap a player to open their profile.
  • Tap a profile photo to view it full-size.
  • Lots of smaller refinements and bug fixes.

  • Offer codes and subscriptions purchased in the store are now detected automatically and linked to your account – no need to “restore purchases” anymore.
  • Profile: the camera button and the absence badge on the player photo are no longer cut off.
  • Sign-in: the logo now displays without a dark box in the light theme.

New

  • Absences: set the periods when you’re unavailable right in your profile – from when to when and why (vacation, injured or other). The app declines events in that period for you automatically; you can still accept individual events at any time.
  • Absence badge on the player photo: in the squad list and on profiles you can see at a glance who is on vacation or injured – with a legend at the end of the squad list.
  • Now available in Italian, too – our seventh language, including push notifications and emails.

  • Android: videos in the team chat can now be played full screen.
  • Tidier video controls in the chat – no more menu cut off at the edge of the screen.

  • Dark mode: light and dark themes – follows your system automatically or your choice in settings. Plus a dark app icon on iOS and a themed icon on Android.
  • RSVP straight from the push notification – no need to open the app.
  • Player of the Match: voting is now much easier – a new voting view with match results and goal scorers, a golden card on the home screen while voting is open, a “Vote now” button on the event, and the push notification takes you straight to the vote.
  • Update notice: the app lets you know as soon as a new version is available.

  • Player of the Match: after every match, your team secretly votes for the best player – with multiple matches you also crown a Player of the Day. The result image is posted to the team chat and the event automatically, titles count towards stats and the leaderboard – and the winner can share their image straight to social media.
  • Now in 6 languages – German, English, Spanish, French and Portuguese (Brazil & Portugal), including push notifications and emails.
  • Apple Watch: follow and run your matchday from your wrist – start matches, log goals, works offline.
  • Guest players: add guests to your lineup and as goal scorers.
  • Recurring events: create and edit whole event series.
  • Event duration: set start and end times for events.
  • New notifications: final score after the match, birthday reminders for teammates, and per-type notification toggles.
  • Attendance rate now on player profiles.
  • In-app feedback form with screenshots.
  • Vote for the player of the match, after your training match.

  • Live updates: the lineup and RSVPs update in real time on the matchday, event list and home – and if you decline, you're removed from the lineup automatically.
